MiTAC Unveils Next-Gen OCP Servers with a Focus on Sustainable Thermal Design

Posted by HSSL Technologies on Apr 29th 2025

At the forefront of high-performance and sustainable computing, MiTAC is introducing two powerful new OCP server platforms: the C2810Z5 (air-cooled) and C2820Z5 (liquid-cooled). Both are optimized for modern HPC and AI workloads and are powered by the latest AMD EPYC 9005 series processors.

Smart Design for Modern Workloads

  • C2810Z5: This 2OU, 2-node single-socket server is equipped with 12 DDR5-6400 DIMM slots per node. Built for microservices in cloud environments, it’s a performance-per-watt champion, striking the perfect balance between compute power and energy efficiency.

  • C2820Z5: The standout in sustainability, this 2OU, 4-node dual-socket server takes thermal design to the next level. Its direct liquid cooling dramatically lowers power consumption and noise levels, while boosting power utilization – an ideal solution for dense HPC and AI data center environments.

Empowering Open Infrastructure with OpenBMC & Open Firmware

MiTAC is also reinforcing its commitment to open innovation by showcasing its OpenBMC and Open Platform Firmware technologies at the summit. These live demonstrations will highlight how MiTAC seamlessly integrates hardware and software to deliver:

  • Faster boot times

  • Transparent server management

  • Greater control and security

  • Enhanced sustainability

Open-source firmware isn’t just the future – it’s the foundation of scalable, secure infrastructure, and MiTAC is helping lead the charge.

Whitestone 2: Power and Precision at the Edge

Also on display is the Whitestone 2 (WS2), a rugged, compact platform tailor-made for ORAN CU/DU and edge computing. Powered by 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, it boasts:

  • A short-depth 1U chassis

  • Front-access design for easy servicing

  • Advanced synchronization with IEEE 1588 v2, Sync-E, and GPS hold-over

  • Dual -48VDC power input and extended operating temperature range

  • Intel Mount Bryce FEC accelerator onboard

This makes WS2 ideal for mobile edge, vRAN, and O-RAN deployments – all in support of OCP’s vision for open and flexible edge solutions, especially within the EMEA region.
